Safety Shield Program

A visible pathway from training participation to stronger prevention readiness.

Safety Shield helps participating lodging properties understand where they are today and what control layer can be added next. Recognition is based on documented program participation—not a promise that incidents cannot occur.

Four progressive tiers

A clear visual language for prevention progress.

Properties can begin with the training foundation and move toward deeper reporting, policy, and readiness controls as program requirements are completed and maintained.

What each tier represents.

The tier descriptions below communicate the intended program structure. Final criteria, verification, renewal, display permissions, and availability are governed by Harbor Alliance program terms.

Program value

Recognition should make the next readiness step easier to understand.

Safety Shield is not designed as a decorative badge alone. The program is intended to help properties create a practical improvement path and communicate participation responsibly.

For property teams

Clarifies which training, reporting, policy, and evidence controls are already in place.

For leadership

Creates a simple executive narrative around current posture and the next control layer.

For the public

Signals documented participation without making an absolute safety or incident-prevention guarantee.

Important approval distinction

The Texas Office of the Attorney General approval applies to Harbor Alliance human trafficking training. It does not constitute Texas OAG endorsement, certification, or approval of the separate Harbor Alliance Safety Shield recognition program or of any participating property.
